Dr. Moramarco & the Schroth Method

Dr. Moramarco is a graduate of Boston University and The National College of Chiropractic. He has treated thousands of patients with musculoskeletal conditions since 1985 at his chiropractic practice in Woburn, Massachusetts. In 2001, he began researching conservative treatments for scoliosis for his own twelve-year-old daughter. Not satisfied with any of the scoliosis alternatives offered in the United States, he decided to take his daughter to Germany to receive instruction in the Schroth method of physical therapy for scoliosis, established in 1921. They traveled to the Asklepios Katharina-Schroth Clinic in Bad Sobernheim in the spring of 2002 to learn the basics of the Schroth method. Upon returning home, they immediately began practicing the exercises and breathing techniques on a daily basis. At the same time, Dr. Moramarco began attending international scoliosis conferences and became involved with an alliance of individuals committed to researching alternative treatments for the conservative management of scoliosis. He became a founding member of SOSORT: The International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment.  Dr. Moramarco continued his study of the Schroth method and in 2005 participated in a course taught by Schroth expert, Dr. Manuel Rigo, of Barcelona, Spain. Soon after, he was named to the editorial board of Scoliosis, an online publication dedicated to research regarding the conservative treatment of scoliosis and recently to The Internet Journal of Rehabilitation. Dr. Moramarco has made three trips to Germany to study with his friend and mentor, Dr. Hans-Rudolf Weiss, former medical director of the Asklepios Katharina-Schroth Clinic in Bad Sobernheim. In ‘07 he became the first U.S. licensed physician to be certified in the Schroth method at the renowned German facility. Dr. Moramarco is a dedicated chiropractor, but because of his personal connection to scoliosis and the encouraging patient outcomes he has witnessed via the Schroth method, he is committed to helping scoliosis patients take a proactive approach to scoliosis management.
